Chris Chapel currently a Senior Project Manager.  He is responsible for controlling cost, resources, schedule, risk and quality on multiple projects.


As the Vice President of Information Services, Chris was responsible for optimizing the construction and business processes via state-of-the-art technology, Chris has developed an integrated project control and accounting system that effectively reduces cycle time and controls projects while managing risk.  His role also included the integration of CAD, cost estimating, and CPM scheduling through a sophisticated custom interface. Chris also managed budget and staffing for technology.  Chris was instrumental in creating a dynamic and forward thinking environment that positioned the company in the forefront of technology based initiatives.


Chris has recently developed an optimized construction delivery model fully enabled by technology which was presented at the Harvard Real Estate, Construction and the Internet Conference 2001.  Additionally, Harvard University has completed a case study on a project completed using the tools that Chris developed that shows how better planning and execution, enabled by technology can lead to better overall results.


Chris has a passion for technology and innovation in the construction industry.  Some of his key accomplishments include:


Northwestern Memorial Hospital.  Created “a state of the art project control system, developed in house specifically for this project – to manage the monumental volume of paperwork generated by this project” as stated in Construction Digest Vol. 10 October 14, 1996.  The highly sophisticated project control system was used in part by every member of the construction management team, and was essential for completion of the $500 million project.


McCormick Place Expansion project.  Established, closely monitored, and controlled the design schedule, budget, and staffing levels for the highly publicized $675 million McCormick Place Expansion project.  Created procedures and database management systems for managing contractor Requests for Information, shop drawings, invoicing and accounting.  Automated systems to track progress for staffing and scheduling


Eastern Illinois University.  Setup General Ledger and Accounts Payable modules within Timberline.  Developed procedures for reporting, distribution, and filing of General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Job Costing.  Created custom data types and custom reporting.  Developed a third party integrated Accounts Receivable system.


Favorite Brands International.  Developed a capacity planning and optimization model for strategic planning and scheduling of production for the many plants.


Energy Group.  Developed a project management system for tracking of construction, contracts, and procurement.


Warsaw Financial Center - Warsaw, Poland.  Developed a project controls system to manage construction.  The system is integrated with Microsoft Outlook and Deltek Advantage accounting software.


Chris graduated from Purdue University in May 1989 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Building Construction Technology.
